Satellite broadband:

Quad play:

SDSL:

This means the broadband users can will be able to download as much as he likes. This facility is ideal for heavy users such as online gamers and web professionals.


See Surf Speak:

This is a bundle of products offered by Sky which includes the services like television (see), broadband (surf) and phone (speak).


Router:

By using a router one will be able to set up his own home network. The routers do buffer and forward data. These are connected to the ISPs (Internet Service Provider) network simultaneously with the LAN at home through a single broadband domain. The router will help users to put his home network on the same connection, instead of paying for a connection for each PC,


Upload:

This means, transferring files from users computer to the internet.


Usage cap:

By having some broadband packages the users are limited to the amount he can download over a set period.


V+:

This means on a range of Virgin products, by using this the users can pause and rewind live TV programs. Apart from that he will be able to record two programmes and watching a third as well.


Virgin Central:

This is a Television channel which offers Virgin´s video on demand service. By pressing a button a viewer will get the facility to access an on-screen guide and in addition can view different episodes of a show they can select. The users will also get the facility to stop, rewind and pause the TV show, just like a DVD player.


VLAN:

This is the abbreviated form of virtual local area network. It is a network of computers.


VOD:

This is the abbreviated form of Video on Demand. This is a technology or service which allows a video feed to be called on near instantaneously for viewing and it is generally free.


VoIP:

This is called Voice Over Internet Protocol. This service allows people to make long distance phone calls by using a computer.


Web n Walk:

This is a A T-Mobile package which allows the users the facility of unlimited broadband internet access on a mobile phone and laptop against a monthly fee.


Wireless broadband:

This simply means the broadband connection without wires. It uses to access Internet in a laptop through a mobile phone. The wireless networks also can be set up by using radio waves to link users.
